Red Squirrel

With today's 10-below-zero start, I thought it would be a busy day at the feeders, but it's been quite slow. I did enjoy watching this little red squirrel come out of one of its many tunnel entrances -- this one is right below the shepherd's crook that holds two of our bird feeders.

I love these feisty little guys. They have an elaborate tunnel system up at Hasty too. I've only ever seen one here at home in New Hope. When he shows up- all of the many gray squirrels RUN!

Well me for stupid. I've been telling my spouse a herd of rabbits have been digging snow tunnels beneath our platform feeder. The truth will out. Squirrels. Maybe their sheltering down there to be safe from my GSD while eating leftovers. :)
